Learn about a successful collaborative effort that has resulted in the purchase of a robust electronic medical record that accommodates intellectual disability, mental health, crisis, and substance abuse services delivered in a variety of settings.
The presenter will address:
- The importance of a professional project manager to assist in developing the non-negotiable elements of an EMR;
- How to prepare and oversee an RFP process;
- How to vet responses and select companies to be interviewed;
- How to develop the interview format and protocols to be used;
- How to select the software vendors to be interviewed onsite; and
- Logistics for the five agencies to visit the finalists in their states and final negotiation of a contract with the winner.
The extensive implementation strategy will be discussed, as well as the challenges that have arisen and been resolved. Participants will also learn about the challenges going forward.
