John Rose

John Rose has broad experience in the disabilities' field and has presented on numerous topics nationwide.  John began his career in the field of developmental disabilities in 1979 as a direct care worker.  He is past-chair of American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities's (AAIDD -- formerly AAMR) special interest group on Direct Support Professionals, which has now become a Division. John received the 2001 American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD -- formerly AAMR) Presidential Award for his leadership in promoting the importance of DSP and the 2002 Charles Hayes Leadership Award from Essex NYSARC.  He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Safety Council and received their Distinguished Service to Safety Award in 1999.  John is also a founding member of the Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities in Canada, is a Board Member with the NADSP and co-chairs the Health & Safety Store in the Quality Mall. John holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and utilizes his broad knowledge and experience while serving as a Board Member of the ANCOR Foundation.
