ANCOR Recess Message Urges FMAP Pressure; Providers Step Up Advocacy in States
Hometown events, parades, and town hall meetings will keep Senators and Representatives busy over the Independence Day recess. ANCOR members should also be busy preparing to bring their message to these federal officials during recess events. Use the Independence Day recess opportunity to ask your members of Congress to pass the FMAP extension when they return to Washington. This week ANCOR sent out an Action Alert that describes why the FMAP is important to providers and individuals with disabilities.
Some ANCOR members have already engaged in activities that bring attention to the FMAP issue. Gary Blumenthal of ADDP teamed up with The Arc of Massachusetts and held candle light visits for days outside the district office of Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) urging his support of FMAP extension. Mary Lou Dyer shares with ANCOR that MACSP joined a Maine coalition called “Maine Can Do Better” that rallied in Portland to urge Senators Snowe (R-ME) and Collins (R-ME) to support FMAP and unemployment extensions.
