Celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid

Today marks the 45^th anniversary of the enactment of Medicare and Medicaid—often considered lifelines to older Americans and individuals with disabilities. 45 years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Medicare Medicaid bill into law. President Barack Obama marked the anniversary by issuing a proclamation lauding both program and pledging continued support under his administration.
