Following Recess Appointment, Obama Submits CMS Administrator to Senate for Confirmation

Although President Obama announced a recess appointment of Donald Berwick as administration of CMS, Obama submitted Berwick’s name to the Senate for confirmation on Monday.  The President bypassed the confirmation process of Berwick by appointing him on July 7^th during the July Fourth Congressional recess.  As a recess appointee, Berwick can serve without confirmation until the end of 2011.
