ABLE Act Passed By Congress, Signed Into Law

December 19, 2014

The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act cleared Congress on Tuesday as part of a package of tax extenders that the House sent to the Senate last week. (See WICS article, "Senate Passes $1.1T Spending Bill, Will Consider ABLE Act," December 15, 2014.) The measure passed the upper chamber easily in a vote of 76 to 16 and was sent to the President for signature. ANCOR applauds the bill's passage, and appreciates the overwhelming bipartisan commitment Congress has demonstrated to people with disabilities by supporting the ABLE Act.

On December 19, President Obama signed H.R. 5771 into law, which includes the ABLE Act language.
