ANCOR Delegation to Participate in Inclusion International’s 2018 World Congress in United Kingdom

ALEXANDRIA, VA — ANCOR (the American Network of Community Options and Resources) announced this morning that a delegation from the association’s International Council will represent ANCOR at the upcoming Inclusion International 2018 World Congress in Birmingham, United Kingdom. ANCOR is a new member of Inclusion International, a network of people with intellectual disabilities and their families advocating for the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities worldwide.

Reinitiated in 2016, ANCOR’s International Council seeks to address the global interests and needs of the association’s expanding membership, which is currently comprised of 1,400+ providers of supports and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Council engages in relationship building, discerns and shares best practices in the disability services industry, examines strategies for retaining and growing the direct support workforce, and more.

Members of ANCOR’s International Council delegation attending the 2018 World Congress, including the organizations they represent and the locations where those organizations are based, are as follows:

  • Charles Hooker, President & CEO, Keystone Human Services, Pennsylvania (Inclusion International Member)
  • Kimber Bialik, Carman International Fellow, Mosaic International, Tanzania

We look forward to deepening  relationships and sharing the values and mission of ANCOR with family members, providers and people with disabilities across the globe.”

Our prime goal is to be the indispensable leader, resource and advocate for a diverse private disability services network that ensures full citizenship and engaged community participation for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages.

About ANCOR’s International Council

Comprised of ANCOR members currently or interested in delivering disability supports and services outside the United States, ANCOR’s International Council seeks to identify and disseminate best practices across international boundaries so people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all nations have the opportunity to be an included and supported member of their communities. ANCOR does not offer financial support for international activities, but does offer platforms for knowledge sharing, as well as limited staff time, to support the efforts of International Council members.
