On March 2, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that it is awarding $150 million in rental assistance to 25 state housing agencies. The grant money will be used to provide permanent, affordable rental housing and needed supportive services to approximately 4,600 households who are extremely low-income persons with disabilities, many of whom are transitioning from institutional settings into the community. The grants were made as part of the Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) program.
