In a blog post dated December 19, Joe Caldwell, Director of Long-Term Services and Supports Policy for the National Council on Aging (NCOA) lays out one of the lesser-known impacts the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) would have on long-term care for seniors and people with disabilities. The blog is titled “Straight Talk for Seniors: The Affordable Care Act and Long-Term Care,” and provides information on the Community First Choice Option, an HCBS program that was established by the ACA. This program provides an enhanced federal match for states that use it. The program has gained wide approval among aging and disability advocates as an attractive option for states seeking to rebalance their services in favor of home and community based options.
