ANCOR - U.S. Dept. of Labor (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP): Virtual Provider Transformation Technical Assistance Series (2016)

Program Overview

ANCOR is pleased to partner with the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to offer an intensive 6-month technical assistance (TA) series for ANCOR member agencies.

As we move toward an Employment First framework that is centered on the premise that all citizens are capable of full participation in integrated employment and community life, organizations that desire to adopt this framework need the institutional capacity to re-align their organizational resources and efforts to facilitate this change. To support these organizations, ANCOR and ODEP are offering technical assistance (TA) via an intensive 6-part webinar series and 4-hour workshop to provide ANCOR member agencies with the tools to support their efforts.

The 6-part webinar series will be led by a national pool of subject matter experts who will provide technical support in:

  • Vision/Mission Realignment;

  • Staff Decentralization;

  • Financial Restructuring and Funding Diversification;

  • Executive Leadership Development;

  • Communications/Marketing; and

  • Performance Benchmarking.

The intensive TA webinars will build upon each other, allowing participating agencies to implement each lesson and concept over the course of the 6-month period to move their agencies toward their transformation objectives.

The webinar series will culminate in an invitation-only, 4-hour pre-conference workshop to be held at the 2016 ANCOR Annual Conference in Chicago, IL. The pre-conference will focus mainly on sustainability, benchmarking, and refining transformation approaches, as well as offer an opportunity to delve deeper into 1-2 thematic areas from the webinar series, as defined by the participants’ needs.

Program Structure

  • There are 30-seats available for the TA program
    • One seat per agency; affiliates will be counted as separate agencies
  • The 6 webinars will be held approximately every three weeks, beginning December 2015 through March 2016 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm (Eastern)
    • Dec 10th
    • Jan 7th
    • Jan 28th
    • Feb 18th
    • Mar 10th
    • Mar 31st
  • Each webinar is 2-hours in length, to be led by a subject matter expert who will offer in-depth technical assistance on specific subjects

  • Attendees will be required to complete assignments for each webinar; assignments will be submitted via a private community on the ACC (ANCOR Connected Community) portal

  • The 6-part webinar series will culminate in an invitation-only 4-hour pre-conference workshop at the 2016 ANCOR Annual Conference in Chicago, IL

  • Participants must sign up for the free DOL EFSLMP’s National Employment First Community of Practice which offers the following resources:
    • Monthly educational webinars
    • Access to ePolicyWorks Virtual Workspace
    • Access to Technical Assistance resources and policy tools developed through ODEP’s EFSLMP

Each registration is $275 to cover agency participation in the 6-part webinar and one representative to the 4-hour pre-conference workshop. A participating agency can send one additional attendee to the pre-conference workshop for additional fee of $115.

To Participate

  • Please complete and submit a registration form by November 30, 2015.

  • Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis; only completed registrations will be considered.

  • Selected participants will be provided instructions to submit registration fee on December 1.

Restrictions to Participation

To allow DOL to offer technical assistance to as many stakeholders as possible, any agency that is already receiving technical assistance from DOL through the EFSLMP Core State initiative is excluded from this opportunity.  If you have questions about the EFSLMP Core State initiative, please contact Serena Lowe at [email protected].

What happens if I am unable to attend a webinar?

  • The webinars will not be recorded so it is important that each participating agency attends each session as the webinars build upon each other.

  • The participating agency can substitute with a different colleague to ensure the agency continues to be a full participant in the webinar series.

If the webinar will discuss a specialized topic, would it be possible to invite a colleague who specializes on that topic to join me on the webinar?

  • Yes, organizations can include 1 additional colleague to join a webinar, if needed. For example, webinar #4 is focused on Workforce, so an agency may want to invite the HR director to join the webinar to get the most out of the session.

Can you tell me more about the assignments?

  • Assignments are tools designed to help agencies move forward to achieving their transformational goals.

  • Assignments will vary.

  • The most extensive assignment will be the first one which is to complete an organizational self-assessment (to include a review of agency documents such as strategic plans, budgets, etc.).

  • Participating agencies are expected to work on assignments between webinar sessions.

  • Assignments feed into subsequent sessions, and one assignment may carry over into two parts.

  • Assignments will be uploaded to an online portal accessible only to the webinar SMEs and participants; the online portal will serve as a resource for all participants as they share information and lessons with each other for more robust learning experience.

Can more than 1 person attend the pre-conference workshop at the 2016 Annual Conference?

  • Yes, up to 1 additional participant per agency can attend the pre-conference workshop.

  • Each additional attendee is required to pay a discounted pre-conference registration fee of $115.
