ANCOR sent a letter to Congressional leadership this week asking that policies to bolster long-term services and supports for individuals with I/DD be included in any end-of-year legislative package. In particular, ANCOR requested support for the inclusion of the following priorities in any end-of-year package:

  • An investment in Medicaid home- and community-based services, including an enhanced federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP) for states.
  • The creation of a grant program for the retention, recruitment and training of the direct support workforce.
  • A recommendation to the Office of Management and Budget to create a standard occupational classification for direct support professionals, which will create a mechanism for collecting consistent national data on the direct support workforce and help stabilize wages for direct support professionals.
