Position Summary
The Director of Residential and Day Services provides strategic direction and leadership for Racker’s Residential, Free-Standing Respite, and Day programs in alignment with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values. This role advances a strong sense of belonging by fostering inclusive, collaborative, and future-focused program environments that center on the lived experience of those we serve and their families.
The Director ensures high-quality services through effective oversight of operations, budgets, staffing, and regulatory compliance, while promoting ethical practice, accountability, and staff wellbeing. Committed to learning, innovation, and continuous improvement, the Director oversees program development and adaptation to meet evolving needs, integrates best practices in IDD services, and drives measurable impact for individuals and families.
Through supportive leadership and cross-functional collaboration, the Director builds strong teams, cultivates community partnerships, and ensures fiscally sound, effective, and mission-driven service delivery.
Working Relationships:
- Directly responsible to the Associate Executive Director
- Oversight and indirect responsibility for members of Racker’s Residential and Day Services Team including RNs, Behavior Specialists, Regional Directors, Team Directors, DSPs
- Teams effectively with other members of Racker’s Senior Leadership Team toward the strategic and operational goals of Racker
- Participates in Racker, local, and statewide committees to advance the mission of Racker
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in from an approved program in a relevant field, QIDP
- Experience: Minimum of three years in Residential Management; demonstrated management/supervisory experience
- Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated ability in management/supervision, excellent oral and written communication, Understanding of human development needs, family dynamics, and experience working with individuals with disabilities. Understanding of leadership characteristics and staff development opportunities. Knowledge of EHRs and organizational efficiencies.
- Physical Requirements: ability to operate standard office equipment, ability to use own vehicle/phone on the job
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direction and leadership for all residential sites in line with Racker’s Mission, Vision, and Values
- Maintain positive, collaborative, and future focused program environment
- Ensure person-centered and family-focused service provision
- Analyze and review the department’s functions for the purpose of ensuring alignment with programmatic goals, effectiveness, and efficient, fiscally sound operations
- Develop systems, policies, procedures to meet quality standards established by program and regulatory requirements and to promote continuous improvement in service delivery
- Develop team of leaders and managers within the program to meet established supervisory expectations and programmatic goal achievement
- Oversee innovative, full-time community-based day programming.
- Oversee budget and resource allocation for Residential and Day Services
- Adapt programming as needed to meet the needs of service recipients.
- Maintain knowledge of current best practices in IDD service provision, technology, and upcoming regulatory changes impacting services within the purview of the department
- Serve as a resource for program staff, program participants, care managers, and families
- Assess and implement new program development and expansion
- Promote positive relationships within the department’s team, collateral agencies, families, and community
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence in all aspects of service delivery for participants and employees.
