~ Join PPCH in collaboration with the URM (Unaccompanied Refugee Minor) program ~

PPCH is actively looking for dedicated, honest, and responsible individuals to be Host Home Providers to provide care and support to youth ages 17 – 21 who are enrolled in the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program through Denver Human Services.

The Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) program provides culturally and linguistically appropriate independent living placements and foster care for refugee-eligible unaccompanied minors in the United States. The goals of the URM program are first, to reunify program youth with family or kin, and second, to provide programming that facilitates social, cultural, and economic integration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Ability to teach or mentor others
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record
• Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Word or other similar software

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience providing life skills acquisition to prepare for independence to high-risk or vulnerable youth is a plus
• Big plus if the Host Home Provider is interested in becoming licensed through our Foster Care Department (licensing only, not necessarily taking on a foster child)

Roles & Responsibilities

We’re looking for qualified candidates that can offer services and supports that might include problem solving, safety in the community, learning new skills, increasing levels of independence, or managing challenging behaviors and/or medical needs, if needed.

You must be willing to provide a home that is safe and supportive while assisting with activities of daily living, recreation and socialization, and mastering life skills.

What are the responsibilities of a Specialty Host Home Provider? A URM Host Home Provider’s primary focus is to provide a safe and supportive environment. Each provider is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the individual living in their home, while also ensuring they will have plenty of opportunities for socialization and learning independent living skills.

What is a Host Home setting like? PPCH has numerous Host Homes located throughout the metro area. Each Host Home is unique in its area of specialty, general layout and physical location.
What type of training does a Host Home Provider receive? PPCH provides specialized training to all providers. Trainings include CPR/First Aid, Customer Rights and many other areas. All host homes are monitored closely by PPCH to ensure that the individual in your home is receiving the highest level of support.
