On June 18, Senator Grassley (R-IA) introduced S. 1604 the Transition to Independence Act, a bill to incentivize states to create more opportunities for people with disabilities to have access to employment in the community. ANCOR is thrilled to have worked with Senator Grassley's office on the Transition to Independence Act and are pleased to join many of our Iowa members in supporting this bill. Barbara Merrill, CEO of ANCOR, applauded the bill's introduction and welcomed its introduction saying, "ANCOR deeply recognizes the urgency to provide additional funding to help states provide integrated, competitive employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We are proud to have worked on and to support a bill that establishes the importance of Medicaid HCBS funding and demonstrates the key role providers have in supporting people to achieve greater independence and financial security."
