ANCOR Releases Alternative Payment Models Report and Recommendations

On Thursday, September 23, ANCOR published its report entitled Improving Lives & Ensuring Sustainability: Implementing Alternative Payment Models in Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Service Delivery. The report identifies the need for I/DD service providers to prepare for a transition from fee-for-service payment design—one where providers are reimbursed for units of time spent delivering services—to alternative payment models including but not limited to value-based contracting strategies.

This report is the result of nearly two years of work by ANCOR’s Alternative Payment Models Work Group to examine five promising programs across North America. These programs, chosen for their potential to offer lessons regarding the design and implementation of alternative payment models, reveal what works as states and other payers look to emphasize the delivery of quality over quantity in Medicaid.
