ANCOR is sharing this announcement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) because the scorecard it describes provides data on Medicaid populations. Our members might find it useful to understanding how CMS measures outcomes, and on which issue areas CMS is placing a special emphasis. ANCOR is currently analyzing the data to see if there is information relevant to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), whom our members support in many ways through services funded by Medicaid. We will inform our membership of any relevant findings.

As written by CMS:

“The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a data refresh of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Scorecard to reflect states’ progress in increasing their reporting of patients’ health outcomes, particularly related to behavioral health.

The first Scorecard released last year promoted a significant step to improve transparency and accountability through public reporting. The Scorecard includes measures, many that are voluntarily reported by states, as well as federally reported measures in three areas: (1) State Health System Performance; (2) State Administrative Accountability; and (3) Federal Administrative Accountability. For this data refresh, we have updated the national context and the State Health System Performance pillar pages with the most recently available data.

This data refresh comes amidst CMS’s ongoing efforts to transform Medicaid by fostering increased state flexibility, promoting accountability and ensuring program integrity for taxpayers.
