HHS Secretary Azar Tours Iowa to Talk Workforce

ANCOR is sharing this item by Politico Pulse because the frontline staff (Direct Support Professionals – DSPs) who support people with disabilities in the community are considered part of the health care workforce being discussed. Additionally, DSPs are employed by agencies who are mostly funded by Medicaid, as are most disability supports in the United States – the Medicaid program is also run by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

As written by Politico Pulse:

ALEX AZAR IN IOWA [LAST WEEK] — He’ll join Ivanka Trump and Iowa Gov. Kay Reynolds on a tour of Hy-Vee’s Helpful Smiles Technology Innovation Center .

Unlike some other big-name visits to the state, Azar’s is to discuss workforce development opportunities, HHS tells PULSE (and not declare a presidential campaign).”
