ANCOR would like to thank the 170 attendees who joined our Policy Summit and Hill Day for making the event a resounding success. You joined us in moments of joy as we honored the leadership of our members, in moments of reflection as we paused to remember Dan Keating, and in moments of sheer energy as we knocked on the doors of our elected officials. With over 70 Congressional meetings scheduled in a single afternoon, that was a lot of doors to knock on! We extend a BIG thank you to our State Navigators, who helped advocates schedule meetings and make their voices heard on Capitol Hill!
The fun didn’t stop there, as we did so much more together! We heard officials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) share concerns around safety that are driving federal policymakers’ directives. We collectively stayed off our phones as current Congressional staff shared off-the-record insights on the political climate. We took careful notes as a former Congressional staffer reflected on his years of experience and new viewpoint in the private sector to give us seven trends not to miss in health and disability policy. We stood up to cheer U.S. Representatives Debbie Dingell, Brett Guthrie, Don Young and Jim Langevin as they joined us in-person at the Summit – and U.S. Representative Brian Fitzpatrick surprised us in the attendance. We informed the community and Congressional offices of the importance of the HCBS Infrastructure Act with our Thursday briefing.
It was a great week, and we could not have done it without you. We look forward to seeing what we can all accomplish together at our 2020 events and advocacy opportunities, including our Government Relations Retreat in Baltimore (January 7-8, 2020), our Annual Conference in Miami (April 27-29, 2020), and the 2020 Policy Summit & Hill Day in Washington (October 13-14, 2020).
