Senate Passes Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

In a bipartisan vote (69-30), the Senate has passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill setting aside funding for roads, bridges, transit, and more.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) completed its official score of the approximately $1 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. With roughly $550 billion in spending above current federal levels, the CBO anticipates the Act will widen the federal budget deficit by $256 billion over 10 years. When questioned on the CBO analysis, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki highlighted that the CBO estimate didn’t account for the cost benefits of shifting COVID-19 relief funding and the economic growth created in the new the infrastructure.
