Turnover Among Domestic Policy Council Staff Who Handle Medicaid

ANCOR is sharing this item by Politico Pulse because it is important for our members to know who decision-makers are on Medicaid policy. Medicaid covers the majority of disability supports in the United States. The Domestic Policy Council, referenced below, is the group of policy staff who advise the President on key policy issues.

As written by Politico Pulse:

“ABE SUTTON to depart White House — The top health policy aide for the Domestic Policy Council is departing this week and is heading to law school, POLITICO’s Dan Diamond and Adam Cancryn first reported.

The youthful Sutton helped steer the Trump administration’s work on drug pricing and insurance market reforms, in addition to guiding the kidney care initiative the president unveiled last month. Fellow DPC aide Maria Bonner will inherit much of Sutton’s portfolio, while Leslie Ford will take up his work on Medicaid and some other issues. [Emphasis added by ANCOR.]

Sutton’s current and former colleagues praised his work. ‘He was smart, determined to get things done and largely drove the kidney care initiative,’ said Brian Blase, who was an assistant to Trump before leaving the White House this summer.”
