The Youth Transition webinar will focus on regulations and federal resources designed to support career development for youth with disabilities. Presenters will discuss WIOA mandates for youth, with particular focus on Pre-Employment Transition Services. Presenters will also discuss promising practices and approaches that improve outcomes for youth transition.

Taryn Williams leads the Youth Policy Team at ODEP within the U.S. Dept. of Labor. In addition to previously serving as ODEP’s Chief of Staff, Taryn worked as a Senior Policy Advisor, Youth Policy Team delivering expertise on disability policy issues including workforce development, education, social security and transition outcomes of youth with disabilities.
Dr. Mary E. Morningstar is a professor in Special Education at the University of Kansas and Director of the Transition Coalition, a national center offering online, hybrid and in-person professional development and resources for secondary special educators and transition practitioners. Dr. Morningstar’s research encompasses three inter-related concentrations: (a) college and career readiness for youth with disabilities, (b) teacher education and professional development, and (c) secondary inclusive reform.
