50 Years of Community Inclusion

In 2020, ANCOR celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding, while the ANCOR Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary. Twenty-twenty also marked the culmination of Included. Supported. Empowered., the ANCOR Foundation’s three-year public awareness-raising initiative designed to lift up the successes of people with intellectual and developments disabilities, and to pull back the curtain on the important role community providers play in making those successes possible.

Although we had hoped to bring our entire community together for a 50th anniversary gala at the National Archives, the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans. Nevertheless, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to reflect on our past, celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to the future.

WATCH: At the Forefront of Change

To kick off the celebration, we invite you to view this six-minute video, in which The Honorable Tony Coelho, chief architect of the Americans with Disabilities Act, reflects on ANCOR’s first 50 years and imagines all that is possible in our next half-century.

EXPLORE: 50 Years of Community Inclusion

Created in celebration of ANCOR’s 50th anniversary, this historical retrospective walks ANCOR members and friends down memory lane, highlighting some of the community’s most pivotal moments.
