Congress Leaves for July Recess

Congress is currently out of session for the July recess. The U.S. House of Representatives will meet this week only for committee business, with no floor votes, and the U.S. Senate is out. Both chambers will return on July 11.  

Before adjourning last week, Congress passed legislation to enact gun reform measures through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The legislation also included provisions to increase access to mental health services. President Biden signed the legislation into law on June 25. 

Once Congress returns from recess in July, it will have only a few short weeks to take up the budget reconciliation legislation before another month-long recess in August. The time is now to continue to tell your Senators to include funding for the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program as part of the reconciliation package.
