House Passes Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, Reaches Agreement on Build Back Better Act

On Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The final vote was 228-206, with 13 Republicans voting in favor of the bill. The legislation, which has already passed the Senate, will be signed into law by the President this week. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act authorizes more than $550 billion in new spending over the next five years to combat climate change and invest in improvements for America’s roads, bridges, public transportation, and more.

At the same time, the House failed to bring the $1.75 trillion budget reconciliation bill, the Build Back Better Act, to the floor for a vote on Friday evening. Instead, the House held a vote on the rule for consideration of the Build Back Better Act, setting up the bill for a final vote the week of November 15.

On Saturday, ANCOR released a statement quoting ANCOR CEO Barbara Merrill and Board of Directors President Heidi Mansir praising Congress for passing the bipartisan infrastructure bill and moving one step closer to passing the Build Back Better Act. The Build Back Better Act is especially critical for ANCOR members, as it includes $150 billion for Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). ANCOR will continue to monitor the legislation and advocate for the inclusion of Medicaid HCBS funding in the final bill.
