ACL Requests Proposals to Implement ANCOR-Supported Program

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking proposals for a newly implemented Community Care Corps, which was born out of legislation originally introduced by then-Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) in 2016. ANCOR has a long history of supporting this legislation, which the offices of Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Tom Udall (D-NM) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) took over in 2018 when Representative Grisham became governor of New Mexico. While funds have been allocated towards this program since 2018, we are now seeing them put to use. As announced by ACL:

“Community Care Corps will award competitive grants between $30,000 and $150,000 for new applicants. Current Community Care Corps grantees may apply for second year funding up to $100,000 or 100% of the previous award amount, whichever is less.

The purpose of the project is to establish, enhance, or grow volunteer programs for over-burdened family caregivers, older adults, and persons with disabilities. A wide range of nonprofit entities, such as faith- and community-based organizations, institutions of higher education, and service organizations, as well as state, county, and local governments are encouraged to apply.”
