CMS Aide Who Oversaw COVID-19 Provider Relief Payments Leaving

In addition to the changes in leadership positions we flagged previously, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is undergoing changes in policy staff who are working on the pandemic response. As reported by Politico Pulse:

“The key aide to Secretary Alex Azar and Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan is set to depart in the coming weeks, HHS confirmed to POLITICO.

Brady, who joined HHS in June 2017 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield, currently holds multiple roles at the health department, including senior adviser to Azar on technology issues like interoperability and chief of staff to Hargan, where he worked on the administration’s “regulatory sprint to coordinated care.”

— Hargan praised Brady’s ‘tireless service’ in a statement to POLITICO. ‘Will helped launch ReImagine HHS, one of many efforts he worked on that will leave HHS a better-managed, more efficient department,’ the deputy secretary said, adding that Brady also worked closely on expanding telehealth and rapidly distributing provider relief payments during the pandemic — efforts that Hargan said ;helped save much of the U.S. health care sector during the outbreak.’”
