Shirley Walker elected to the ANCOR Board of Directors by State Associations Participating in Pilot Program – Shirley Walker, President and CEO of PAR (Pennsylvania Advocacy for Autism and Intellectual Disability), was recently elected to serve a one-year term on the ANCOR Board of Directors by the state association executives who are part of ANCOR’s 100% Model for 2018. Shirley has been President/CEO of PAR for twenty-six years and has been very active in ANCOR’s State Association Executive Forum. She has been a speaker at many ANCOR conferences and also is a recipient of the ANCOR Foundation’s Legacy Leader Award. We are pleased to welcome Shirley to the ANCOR board representing this important group of state associations.
Imagine!/Keystone Human Services – Greg Wellems, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development at Colorado based Imagine!, is leaving to relocate to Central Pennsylvania. Greg has been at Imagine! for twenty-seven years. He will be joining another ANCOR member agency, Keystone Human Services as Executive Director of Intellectual Disabilities Services. He is a former member of the ANCOR Board of Directors and has also represented Colorado on the ANCOR Board of Representatives.
Trinity Services, Inc. – Trinity serves more than 3,500 people with developmental disabilities and mental illness in over thirty communities across Illinois. Art Dykstra (left), who has served as CEO of Trinity Services for the past thirty years, stepped down to lead Trinity Consulting Group. In his place, Thane Dykstra, Ph.D. (right), previous Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Services, was appointed as CEO by their Board of Directors.
Art joined Trinity as its CEO in 1987 after a twenty year career with the Illinois Dept. of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. When he joined Trinity, the organization consisted of one school, one day program and employed just thirty-three staff. Today, Trinity has a large residential program, numerous adult learning programs, a behavioral health network, and employs more than 1,000. Art plans to continue writing and consulting in areas related to organizational culture, person-directed services, leadership and quality improvement at Trinity Consulting Group. He also plans to garden, fish and enjoy time with his family.
Thane joined Trinity in 1995, when he became Director of the Behavioral Health Network. He led a significant expansion of services. Thane also led efforts establishing three psychosocial rehabilitation programs – the Trinity Counseling Centers. When he became COO in 2016, Thane supervised Trinity’s specialized residential services and its expanding assistive technology program. He also continued to oversee their work with the Illinois Crisis Prevention Network.
Tina Fogarty has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Services, Inc. She joined the agency in 2016 as Director of Specialized Residential Services. Tina has more than twenty-five years of experience in the human services field, twenty-two of which were spent at Neuman Family Services as the Vice President of Programs and Services.
Rise, Inc. – Gerald Nebeker, Ph.D., founder of Rise, Acumen, and the Orange Socks Initiative, has been named a 2018 Fellow with AAIDD. Gerald also has recently been elected to the ANCOR Foundation Board of Directors. Spurwink Services, Inc., – Community Partners, Inc. and Spurwink Services, both providers of services to children, adults, and families in Maine have merged. As of January 1, the two organizations finalized their merger and are operating under the name Spurwink Services, Inc.
NHS Human Services – Announces a name change to Merakey, to take place this Spring.
