The Administration for Community Living (ACL) issued a notice of funding opportunity entitled “Strengthening the Direct Care Workforce: A Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Initiative.” The agency will offer a grant of $1.3 million over five years to establish a new national technical assistance center designed to strengthen the direct care workforce that provides home and community-based services to people with disabilities and older adults. The notice states that “ACL seeks to advance capacity to recruit and retain a high-quality, competent and effective direct care workforce of professionals capable of meeting the growing needs that older adults and people with disabilities have for such supports.”

The new program would create a central hub for state, private, and federal entities involved in the hiring, recruitment, training, and workforce development associated with the delivery of HCBS. ANCOR is exploring opportunities to actively engage with other stakeholders as a key partner in this initiative.
