Administration Officially Renews Public Health Emergency Declaration

As reported by Politico Pulse:

“The extension of the public health emergency, which HHS Secretary Alex Azar announced on Twitter Thursday, ensures that critical resources to fight the pandemic will continue, POLITICO’s Rachel Roubein writes.

Governors and health groups had pushed the renewal in recent weeks, fearing Trump would instead want to claim victory over the coronavirus despite assurances from top administration officials that it would likely continue. Public health emergencies last for 90 days, meaning the latest renewal will expire in late October — close to Election Day — without another extension.
