According to a snippet from Politico Pro:

“A broad spectrum of advocacy organizations, medical groups and congressional Democrats yesterday [March 27, 2018] warned that HHS’ proposal to strengthen conscience protections for health care workers would limit access to services like abortion as well as access for LGBTQ patients.” 18 Democratic U.S. Senators and 19 State Attorney Generals also protested the proposal in the past week.

As a recap, in January 2018, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a proposed rule allowing health care workers to protect workers who have conscience/religious objections to health actions. Click here to read the proposed rule.

ANCOR has been monitoring this issue to assess whether it has any potential to affect people with disabilities and the Direct Support Professionals who support them. We will keep members informed should any developments emerge in that direction.
