ANCOR Continues to Respond to “Disabled, or Just Desperate?”

On April 21, ANCOR joined other national disability organizations in sending a follow up letter to the editor and reporter responsible for the article, “Disabled, or just desperate?” which ran in the Washington Post on March 30. The article has been updated to correct some initial data errors, but still has some inaccuracies. (For prior responses on the article, see WICs article, “New Criticism on the WaPo Article about Disability Beneficiaries,” April 17, 2017.) The new letter highlights findings included in a recent analysis by the Center for American Progress, and asks the Post to clarify the scope of disability benefits used by residents of the county featured and share policy work being done to address poverty systemically.
