ANCOR Joins Coalition Letter Thanking Sen. Grassley for Supporting Families with Adult Dependents with Disabilities

As part of its coalition efforts with the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), ANCOR signed onto a group letter thanking Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, for legislation that would make families with adult dependents with disabilities eligible for future individual stimulus funding during the pandemic. Specifically, the “American Workers, Families, and Employers Assistance Act”, a component of the proposed HEALS Act, addresses an oversight in the CARES Act that had given families $500 for child dependents in pandemic stimulus funding, but not for adult dependents with disabilities. ANCOR has participated in advocacy on this issue for most of the spring and summer.

It is important to note that the HEALS Act is still only a legislative proposal that has not yet been voted on in the Senate. For it to become law, Senate Republicans will have to find common ground between their HEALS Act and the HEROES Act, which was passed by House Democrats in mid-May.
