ANCOR Joins Letter Providing Input on PREVENT Pandemics Act

On Friday, ANCOR joined a letter from disability, aging, and chronic condition groups sent to the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee to provide input on the discussion draft of the PREVENT Pandemics Act. The PREVENT Pandemics Act is a bill aimed at strengthening the nation’s public health and medical preparedness and response systems in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The letter expresses concern over the current discussion draft’s failure to adequately address the disproportionate impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on older adults, people with disabilities, and people with chronic conditions. In addition, the letter urges the creation of a task force conducting a comprehensive review of the COVID-19 pandemic response to include analysis of how to provide services for people with disabilities in community-based settings and better equip the direct support workforce.
