According to a press release from Representative Brett Guthrie (R-KY):
“Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), vice chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, this week introduced legislation (H.R. 6042) to make the implementation of the Medicaid Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system easier for states to adopt. The EVV system provides accountability to ensure that patients receiving home services get the services they need.”
This new EVV bill is in addition to the bill introduced by Representatives Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Steve Stivers (R-OH). The sponsors of the two House bills discussed how to best merge their bills and decided to advance H.R.6042 moving forward. Both the Democratic and Republican co-sponsors want EVV legislation to be included in current House opioids legislation so it can move faster than it would as a standalone bill.
Your advocacy on this issue is critical this week. Our congressional allies are seeking support from more of their colleagues to ensure the bill can pass. Please help them by asking your members of Congress to support H.R.6042.
