We are re-sharing this statement by ANCOR CEO Barbara Merrill, posted on the ANCOR Connected Community on Thursday, in case our members missed it.

“I’m writing to share the news that after five great years leading ANCOR’s Government Relations team, Esmé Grewal will be leaving the association at the end of October. Esmé will lead us through another successful Policy Summit, and shortly thereafter will begin the next adventure of her career as Vice President for Government Relations at BrightSpring Health Services.

Ever since she came to work at ANCOR in 2014, Esmé has been a powerful force, combining her positive attitude, her passion for our work as the sibling of two incredible individuals and her skill as a lobbyist to the benefit of our federal policy agenda. Anyone who has met Esmé knows her as an upbeat, talented leader and can imagine why we’ll all miss coming to work alongside her each day.

Fortunately, Esmé’s transition will be smooth because of the smart and capable professionals that comprise our Government Relations team, including staff, members and consultants.

I have also been deeply impressed by the breadth of talented professionals that have approached me in the last few years interested in joining our Government Relations team, and for that reason, we won’t be conducting a national search. Rather, I have conducted direct outreach to ideally suited candidates who have expressed interest. I look forward to introducing you to the newest leader for our Government Relations staff in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll take a moment to thank Esmé for all she has done on behalf of ANCOR, either in person if you’re joining us for the Policy Summit, or via email.

– Barbara”

From Esme:

I wanted to thank all of the ANCOR members who have been such an amazing part of my professional growth over the last many years. Throughout my almost five years with ANCOR I got married and had two terrific little boys. However in a very quick time I not only gained my sweet Grewal family, but I gained an incredible family of disability service providers dedicated to the mission of ensuring quality services for people with I/DD. The work I led in our policy department would not be possible without your pure commitment and deep breadth of expertise. You have made every day of this work worth it and I thank you all for being so supportive of me and helping us to achieve our shared mission. While I am looking forward to continuing my career trajectory with BrightSpring and expanding the issues that I cover (Medicare here I come!), I know I will never again find a home like ANCOR. I look forward to seeing you all on the other side as a fellow member. Wait for me there –  and thank you, ANCOR family!
