Bigger Cost Projections than Expected for MFP Extension

A report was just issued last week from the Congressional Budget Office, the official body that estimates cost projections for legislation, suggesting that each year of extension of the Money Follows the Person program would cost $882 million and not have a significant saving effect. This announced amount was almost twice as much as experts on the Hill predicted and could have the impact of putting some brakes on the effort of passage within the calendar year. The large cost, no savings prediction also points to one of ANCOR’s key data objectives to analyze how CBO scores disability-related legislation and if/how savings from community placement are used appropriately and effectively.
