Budget Reconciliation Bill Negotiations Continue

Negotiations surrounding a budget reconciliation bill are still ongoing, as Wednesday night, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) met with Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) to discuss a potential deal. Although the Senators did not release the specifics from that meeting, Manchin has publicly stated that the three must-have components of a deal are tax reforms, prescription drug savings and climate change spending.

The timing of a potential budget reconciliation deal remains unclear, with the general consensus being that a deal on the legislative framework must be reached before the Memorial Day recess. The Senate would then need to move swiftly to pass the legislative package before lawmakers’ attention turns to the midterm elections.

ANCOR continues to advocate for inclusion of $150 billion in funding for the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program in any budget reconciliation package, with its #AllInForHCBS advocacy campaign in full swing. Take action today.
