CCD Responds to Article on Americans on Disability

On March 30, the Washington Post published an article titled, “Disabled, or just desperate? Rural Americans turn to disability as jobs dry up“. The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) Social Security Task Force co-chairs released a statement in response to the article, which they view as highly skewed, harmful, and incomplete in its reporting on Social Security’s disability programs. ANCOR is a member of CCD, and has signed on to a separate letter which will be sent later in the week expressing similar concerns over the characterization of individuals who receive disability benefits.
