“Former Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango is joining the Trump administration as a top health official within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, months after losing a GOP primary marked by vicious sparring over Obamacare and transgender rights.
Mango, who spent more than 25 years as a health care consultant at McKinsey before seeking office, will serve as the agency’s chief principal deputy administrator and the chief of staff to CMS Administrator Seema Verma.
That will make him one of the highest-ranking officials at an agency carrying out a White House agenda of revamping insurance markets and overhauling regulations affecting hospitals, doctors and drug companies.
‘We’ve set the policy agenda,’ Verma told POLITICO. ‘And Paul is responsible for executing on the agenda and the policy initiatives.’”
