Last week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its 2021 Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Scorecard. The Scorecard includes measures voluntarily reported by states as well as federally reported measures categorized into three pillars: State Health System Performance, State Administrative Accountability, and Federal Administrative Accountability. The scorecard serves to increase transparency about the Medicaid and CHIP programs’ administration and outcomes by consolidating key metrics to provide an overview of the performance of the Medicaid and CHIP programs.
