Competing Congressional Priorities Leave Little Room for Budget Reconciliation Legislation

The U.S. Senate continues to grapple with competing priorities, including an attempt to piece together bipartisan gun violence legislation and to advance major trade legislation, the United States Innovation and Competition Act, a priority that must pass by the July 4 recess. In tackling these additional priorities, there has been little room for the Senate to take up the budget reconciliation legislation, although internal discussions are likely continuing behind closed doors.
