ANCOR is sharing this article by Politico Pro on Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission (EEOC) head Chai Feldblum because of her strong championing of disability issues during her tenure at the EEOC.
“Former EEOC Commissioner Chai Feldblum won’t seek another nomination, she told Bloomberg Law’s Paige Smith Monday. The agency lacks a quorum after Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) blocked Feldblum’s nomination last month. Feldblum, a Democrat who identifies as a lesbian, was the first openly LGBT EEOC commissioner, and Lee accusing her of being “an activist intent on stamping out all opposition to her cause.” In retaliation, Democrats refused to advance Republican DOL nominees.
‘There are lots of incredibly talented people who can serve,’ Feldblum told Bloomberg Law. ‘I think it’s very important for Sen. Chuck Schumer to recommend someone else for the second Democratic seat.’”
