Hear from Emerging Leaders Among Congressional Health Care Staff

On November 14, 2017 ANCOR staff attended a Politico event sponsored by Anthem, featuring the viewpoints of three Congressional staff identified as leaders in health care issues as well as the Federal Drug Administration’s (FDA) Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Planning, Legislation and Analysis. Discussions centered heavily on the climate in Congress now that tax reform has been linked with health reform. Notably, Senator Cassidy’s (R-LA) Health Policy Director emphasized the need for strategic planning and management of entitlement programs as the Senate advances with tax reform. Democratic Senate Finance Committee staff, which oversees the Medicaid program, emphasized the need to continue telling stories about the importance of health care in the wake of these new additions to the tax reform bill.
