On April 12, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra announced the renewal of the declaration of the public health emergency (PHE). The PHE will be extended for another 90 days beginning on April 16.

The extension of the PHE will also extend the enhanced federal match rate (FMAP) authorized by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. With the current PHE declaration set to expire on July 15, 2022, the 6.2 percentage point bump in FMAP will now continue until September 30, 2022.
