ANCOR Congressional Champion and U.S. Representative Jim Langevin (D-RI) made history – again – when Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) nominated him as the U.S. House of Representative’s first Speaker Pro Tempore ever. This is a different position than Speaker of the House. While Speaker Pelosi will preside over the full House, as Speaker Pro Tempore Congressman Langevin managed the debate on the House floor in its opening session. This is a significant acknowledgement not only his contributions to the body of Congress, but also of the importance of inclusivity. U.S. Representative Langevin also made history in 2010 when he was elected as the first quadriplegic member of Congress.
ANCOR congratulates the Congressman for this important recognition!
