HUD Publishes Proposed Rule to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently published a new proposed rule, Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing. The rule addresses and implements the Fair Housing Act’s mandate to promote fair housing choice, eliminate disparities in housing, and foster inclusive communities. The rule would put into place a requirement that every five years, program participants must submit to HUD an equity plan analyzing fair housing issues in their communities and strategies to address them.
