Let’s End 2019 with Fewer Taxes on Non-Profits: Join ANCOR in Asking Congress to Repeal the Tax on Fringe / Parking Benefits!

Please join ANCOR in asking Congress to repeal the 21 percent unrelated business income tax (UBIT), which has been diverting scarce and needed funds from non-profits since it became law at the end of 2017. Additionally, the tax, which focuses on “fringe” benefits such as parking benefits, is creating large administrative burdens on disability supports – many of which have non-traditional office set-ups. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has not provided sufficient guidance on these issues. Just as importantly, the tax has the potential to contribute to the staggering disability workforce crisis because it puts pressure on disability providers, whose funding is determined by fixed Medicaid rates they cannot negotiate, to reduce the benefits they offer and thus become less competitive employers.

You can participate in three easy steps – we estimate this should take less than 10 minutes.

  1. Download this template letter prepared by the UBIT Coalition, of which ANCOR is a member.
  2. Personalize it – in red in the template you will find sections designed to be personalized.
  3. Email it to your Congressional offices – you can find their contact information on the ANCOR Amplifier.
