Money Follows the Person Renewal – House Bill Number Now Available

As previously reported by ANCOR, the House has introduced a companion bill to the Senate’s EMPOWER CARE ACT (S.2227), which renews funding for the Money Follows the Person (MFP) program. The House bill, HR 5306, is titled “To Reauthorize Money Follows the Person Demonstration Program” and was introduced by U.S. Representatives Guthrie (R-KY) and Dingell (D-MI).

ANCOR supports this legislation because MFP is an important rebalancing program. Additionally, HR 5306 has strategic importance, because Members of Congress in general will be more willing to support other IDD priorities in the future if they see that such legislation can obtain support in the House. As such, we ask for ANCOR members to lend support to the MFP program even if they are in states where MFP does not have a large presence.

Pending seeing whether the Senate MFP bill is included or not in the omnibus bill, as described in another article in this issue, we recommend that ANCOR members begin reaching out to their U.S. Representatives to ask for their support for HR 5306. Please contact Doris Parfaite-Claude, Federal Advocacy and Research Manager, at [email protected] if you need assistance with your outreach to your U.S. Representative.
