A review conducted by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna is safe to use. While the Moderna vaccine has not yet received an emergency use authorization (EUA) akin to that which the Pfizer vaccine received on December 11, the FDA’s declaration that the vaccine is safe is an important step toward obtaining the EUA.
As reported in the New York Times, the health sector is particularly hopeful that the Moderna vaccine can be rapidly deployed to rural areas because it can be kept at lower temperatures than the Pfizer vaccine, making it far easier to distribute in smaller quantities. More grounds to smile: As reported by Axios: “The share of Americans who say they’ll get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it’s available has doubled since September, with more than one in four now putting their hands up, Margaret Talev writes from the Axios/Ipsos Coronavirus Index.”
