CMS Dedicates Staffer to Innovative Payment Models.

“Verma details top official to innovation center. Deidre Gifford, the deputy director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, will work with the innovation center “to support the development of innovative payment models across CMS programs,” CMS Administrator Seema Verma said in an email to staff. Gifford has been at CMS since 2016 and previously served as a top health official in Rhode Island.”

OMB New Health Official Previously Worked On Medicare / Medicaid Issues in Senate

“The Office of Management and Budget has tapped former Senate Budget Committee GOP aide Greg D’Angelo as its top health official, the agency confirmed to POLITICO.

D’Angelo replaces Joe Grogan, who took over as head of the White House Domestic Policy Council earlier this year. He started at OMB on Monday as its associate director of health programs.

A veteran of the Budget Committee, D’Angelo most recently handled health care issues including Medicare and Medicaid policy as a senior professional staffer. He joined the committee in 2009 after a stint at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Health Policy Studies.”

Of particular relevance to providers, OMB is responsible for the final review of any agency regulation before it is published for notice and comment – including such regulations as the Department of Labor (DOL) Overtime Rule and the HCBS Settings Rule.
